Major update: Yesterday, the Senate voted against funding the Dept. of Homeland Security—the agency that operates ICE and Border Patrol—by billions of dollars.
This is a huge win against ICE’s rein of terror. But Congress is still negotiating a funding bill and even though a partial government shutdown is likely, our movement’s demands have still not been met.
We need to keep applying pressure on our senators to stop any funding for ICE because our communities say no more.
No more kidnappings.
No more killings.
No more using small children as bait.
Earlier this week, we made our voices heard outside of Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand’s NYC office and demand she stand with New Yorkers against ICE’s terror.
Our resistance is working – Sen. Gillibrand voted against this latest DHS funding bill, but we need her and all of our lawmakers to continue holding the line.
We shouldn’t have our health care, housing, and education stripped away from us while our neighbors are kidnapped off the streets. Our communities deserve so much more, and we won’t stop fighting for a livable and safe future for everyone who calls this country home.
