Dear John,
War clouds are on the horizon, and the decisions being made right now could lock the United States into another devastating conflict.
Senators Tim Kaine (D-VA) and Rand Paul (R-KY) have just introduced a critical resolution making clear that there is no authorization for the use of force against Iran. This matters because it draws a hard legal and political line at a moment when the drumbeat for war is growing louder. If this resolution gains support and is brought to a vote, it can block a rush to war and force accountability.
We can’t allow warhawks to exploit Iran’s brutal crackdown to justify spilling even more blood. War would not serve the United States or the people of Iran. It would devastate civilians, destabilize the region, and push Iran into a vortex of chaos.
There are still diplomatic offramps. But history shows how quickly these windows close once momentum toward war takes hold. This is one of the last chances to intervene before decisions are made behind closed doors.
That’s why we need immediate pressure on Congress.
Tell your Senators to cosponsor the Kaine–Paul resolution and demand a vote. In the House, Representatives can support the Khanna-Massie war powers resolution. The more support these resolutions have, the stronger our ability to stop a catastrophic war.
This is the moment to intervene.
