I just voted NO on a major appropriations package that included billions in funding for the Dept. of Homeland Security and ICE with no strings attached. So if you've got a spare moment, I'd like to explain why.
Under Donald Trump, Kristi Noem, and Stephen Miller's direction, masked ICE agents are unleashing a campaign of fear on communities in Colorado and nationwide.
We've witnessed masked agents in unmarked cars snatch people from the street, destroy private property, and leave people bloodied on the side of the road. We've witnessed kids separated from their parents and homes raided without warrants. And even after killing two citizen observers in broad daylight, the Administration continues to lie to the American people and escalate tensions with total disregard for the rule of law or their own accountability.
This is NOT normal – it's what happens when power goes unchecked.
So on behalf of all Coloradans, I'm keeping up the fight to stop it. My demands are simple:
* No home entries without warrants,
* No detention of children,
* Guaranteed access to legal counsel for detainees,
* Real consequences for agents who violate the Constitution and
* Changes in leadership – because both Noem and Miller have got to go.
Anything less isn't just unacceptable – it's un-American.
But unlike the president, I am not a billionaire. I also don't use shell companies to pocket taxpayer-funded contracts, like his Homeland Security secretary. I don’t even accept gifts from corporate PACs. I'm running a people-powered campaign for governor, which means I can't keep up the fight for Colorado without your small-dollar support to win this race.
So friend, I'm humbly asking if you'll chip in $5, or anything you can spare toward my campaign today. Together, we can, and we will, make Colorado a beacon of hope out of the Trump administration's tyranny – and make it the best state to live, work and raise a family.
