John,

This is Mai Vang, Sacramento City Councilmember and candidate for Congress in California’s 7th district. I’m deeply honored to receive the endorsement of Justice Democrats.

In a moment, I’m going to ask if you’ll chip in to my primary campaign against a 20-year incumbent deep in the pockets of corporate PACs, but first, let me tell you why I’m taking her on.

I’m the daughter of Hmong refugees, a Sacramento native, and the eldest of 16 kids. I know what it takes to stretch a paycheck and build a life.

When you don’t have money, you fight for everything you have – and for everything your community deserves to survive and thrive. I’ve been a fighter my entire life, and I won’t stop fighting for Sacramento’s working families in the halls of Congress.

We are living through a crisis. Our neighbors are being ripped from their families by ICE. Working people can't afford rent, healthcare, or groceries. And too many establishment Democrats in Washington — including Rep. Doris Matsui — are more concerned with protecting the status quo than protecting our people.

We need leaders in Congress who will meet this moment with the courage it demands — leaders who fight because it's right, not because they're finally being held accountable. We can't wait for another election cycle of empty promises. We need leaders who will step into the ring and fight today.

Unlike our current representative:

I’ve delivered real results for families and students as a member of the Sacramento school board and city council. Now, I’m ready to join Justice Democrats’ bloc of working-class, progressive leaders in Congress willing to fight for the bold change we so desperately and urgently deserve.

But since this campaign is 100% people-powered, I’m going to need a groundswell of grassroots support to take on a powerful incumbent in less than six months.

Please, split a contribution of any amount to Justice Democrats and my campaign today to rapidly build the resources needed to win this primary →
