The theft of billions of taxpayer dollars by fraudsters under Governor Walz is the biggest failure of state government in my lifetime. Stopping fraud in Minnesota has been a top priority for me, and I will continue to work to hold those responsible for the fraud to account. Below is a timeline of a few of my key legislative initiatives and concrete proposals to eliminate fraud and restore accountability.

January 2026: Rasmusson joins Treasury Secretary Bessent for fraud roundtable
|
This month, I participated in a robust discussion with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on stopping the fraud crisis in Minnesota and shared how the Walz administration enabled fraud. In addition, I requested continued support from the Trump administration to stop the fraud and hold those responsible to account. This work isn't over. Walz and his commissioners must be held accountable. This session, I have three proposals to rein in Minnesota's exploding fraud crisis. Here's what I'm fighting for:
1. Creating an independent Office of the Inspector General with real enforcement authority
2. Restoring the Senate's power to remove commissioners who allow fraud to occur
3. Ending blank checks for state agencies by requiring spending limits, oversight triggers, and legislative approval based on OLA findings.
