I want to talk to you about my friend Xochitl.

I’ve talked a lot about the importance of flipping the Senate and taking back the White House this November. Now today, I want to talk to you about an important House race in New Mexico that is the most competitive in the entire country.

My friend Rep. Xochitl Torres Small is running to return to the House so she can continue to fight for the people of New Mexico’s 2nd Congressional District. If you can, will you split a contribution between her campaign and the Southwest Leadership Fund?

Xochitl and I go way back. Before she was elected in 2018, Xochitl worked as an organizer on my first Senate campaign and then on my Senate office staff. She played a key role in developing water conservation policy and increasing broadband access and cell phone service to rural parts of our state.

I saw firsthand what Xochitl is capable of as a leader and it’s no surprise she’s made an excellent representative for New Mexico’s 2nd.

Xochitl is a champion of a historic bill that passed through the House this week and would expand and support our public lands, national parks, trails, and wildlife. Like me, Xochitl knows preserving our public lands is essential to protecting our environment and strengthening our economy.

We can’t afford to lose Xochitl’s leadership in Congress. If you can, please split a contribution between her campaign and the SLF.

Xochitl won a tough race in 2018, flipping New Mexico’s 2nd from red to blue and becoming the first Latina to ever represent the district.

Her race is going to be just as tough this time around. Cook Political Report says Xochitl’s race is a toss up and polls show it’s locked up in a tie.

I started the Southwest Leadership Fund to help elect leaders like Xochitl. Now, we need to make sure she returns to the House after November. If you can, will you split a contribution between Xochitl’s campaign and the SLF?

Cheers,

Tom
