Dear John,
I’ve just heard the most exciting news and I can’t wait to share it with you: There will be a third No Kings Day on March 28!
The first No Kings protest drew five million people to the streets to protest Trump’s authoritarian onslaught. Then over seven million people turned out for the second No Kings Day last October, setting the all-time record for a nonviolent day of protest.
As someone with over 60 years of experience in and around politics, let me be 100% clear: These protests mattered. Millions of people peacefully taking to the streets, speaking with one voice, proved that Trump’s rule is not absolute and that America will never accept any king or dictator.
But since then, Trump has only escalated his assault on the rule of law, flooding our streets with masked immigration goons, threatening to seize Greenland by force, and more.
So this time we need to go even bigger, but mobilizing millions of people all over the country isn’t cheap or easy. That’s why I’m asking you to start a monthly donation to help power Inequality Media Civic Action and our efforts to make the March 28 No Kings Day the biggest yet.
Donald Trump is doing everything he can to make himself a king — defying the courts, silencing the free press, detaining and deporting critics, disregarding checks and balances, and brutalizing our communities with an invasion of ICE and Border Patrol thugs.
These are the actions of a lawless authoritarian, and we won’t stand for it.
The source of our power as citizens is to be heard, to be seen, and to let our views be known — peacefully, patriotically, and purposefully. Together, we can drive home the point that we are not a monarchy. We are not governed by a king. We are a constitutional democracy.
So today, as we begin leveraging our massive following across social media to make the next No Kings Day the biggest yet, I’m asking all of you to chip in monthly whatever you can to support Inequality Media Civic Action.
Whether that’s a small amount like $5 or $10 or a larger donation of $500 or more, every dollar and every donation counts!
Thank you,
Robert Reich
