John,
With the backdrop of ICE and DHS terrorizing our communities, the Senate is preparing to vote today on the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) appropriations bill. If passed, this bill would continue to fund Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown, which has resulted in the deaths of immigrants and U.S. citizens alike.
ICE and Customs and Border Protection have carried out deadly enforcement operations that have terrorized communities, resulted in fatal shootings, trampled on our democratic rights to dissent and due process, and enabled widespread abuses and inhumane conditions in detention centers across the country.
This is a crisis. We must demand that Congress reject the DHS funding bill now before the Senate, and refuse to enact any bill that does not include meaningful measures to rein in DHS’s lawless and dangerous practices. First, ICE and CBP agents should be withdrawn from our communities. No DHS funding bill should pass that does not require full Congressional investigations, prohibit warrantless arrests, and limit detention, the use of force, and other enforcement operations by federal immigration officials.
Urgently call both of your Senators today:

Suggested Call Script:
Hello, my name is ____________, and I am a constituent of the senator’s. I urgently call on the Senator to vote NO on the Department of Homeland Security appropriations bill being voted on in the Senate this week, either alone or in combination with other bills.
With ICE and Customs and Border Protection agents terrorizing communities and killing citizens on our streets in broad daylight, we need ICE and CBP agents to be withdrawn from our communities, and a full, independent investigation into all ICE and CBP-related deaths. The Senator must demand strong measures to stop warrantless arrests, hold federal officers accountable, stop family and child detention, and require other strong protections in any DHS funding bill.
Please urge the Senator to vote NO on the DHS funding bill today.
After you speak with one Senate office, hang up, dial again, and ask for your other Senator.
We are in a fight for the heart and soul of our country and our democracy. Thank you for demanding urgent action from our elected leaders in this critical moment.
If you can, donate today to power our activism and advocacy, which are demanding immediate protections from ICE brutality.
Thank you for all that you do to hold this administration accountable.
In solidarity,
Deborah Weinstein
