Dear John,

January marks one year since this administration took office, and there is no way to reconcile this chaotic moment in time. This month has shaken me to my core. I'm from North Dakota, and have dear friends and grantee partners in Minnesota. Everything that is happening there is so close.

I am disgusted and heartbroken, but in spite of it all, I am also deeply inspired. Now more than ever, we are seeing the importance of acting locally and supporting grassroots action. I'm inspired by the people showing up day after day for their neighbors. Inspired by the protests in cities and towns across the nation. Inspired by our partners, who are finding new, creative ways to care for their communities in the face of relentless pushback.

Right now it is critical that we all continue this fight. We need to find inspiration in one another and ourselves to take any and every action we can, because sitting on the sidelines is not an option.

As we look towards a year that is already fraught with uncertainty and fear, we are ready to face it head on, together. We’re proud to be by your side at this moment.

In solidarity,

Ms. Foundation in the News

The Chronicle of Philanthropy recently interviewed President & CEO Teresa C. Younger on her upcoming leadership transition, and what's next for her and the Foundation.

"I've always said that I want to show people what a positive transition looks like for a woman of color in an organization that has a very diverse national board, very diverse staff, amazing partners all across the country and globally. I want to show that it doesn't always have to be traumatic. I want to do it with joy, and I want to do it with intention."

Grantee Partner Spotlight: Climate Critical

Climate Critical founder Tamara Toles O’Laughlin knows that community—practitioners, organizers, and activists—will make climate survival possible. But it will only be feasible if community members take care of themselves, too. As an Activist Care & Collaboration Fund grantee partner, Climate Critical knows we cannot afford to lose the power of people stewarding this collective work, and is creating solutions to care for them.
