First, seven House Democrats cowardly voted to increase ICE funding even more after Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries refused to whip votes against it. This was after thousands of ICE agents invaded Minnesota and unleashed violence, killing Renee Good.
Then, a second civilian in Minneapolis was murdered by ICE agents, who continue to wreak havoc and violate the constitutional rights of Minnesotans with impunity.
Now, the Senate is voting on an appropriations bill with more ICE funding this week, and Republicans need 10 Democratic senators to vote with them in order for the bill to pass.
It is beyond clear: ICE cannot be reformed. It must be abolished — full stop.
If any Senator votes to fund them, they're voting in support of murdering our friends, families, and neighbors—and they should lose their jobs.
We don't want 10 paragraphs of mealy-mouthed excuses from Democrats anymore: abolish ICE or f*ck off.
In the words of Justice Democrat Rep. Rashida Tlaib, “anything less than abolishing ICE is a cowardly capitulation to fascism.”
It’s time for Democrats to put up or shut up: block ICE funding or get out of Congress.
