My heart is heavy. Horrific patterns of gun violence by federal agents are wreaking havoc in Minnesota and across the country—and it cannot stand.
On Saturday, January 24, Alex Jeffrey Pretti—an ICU nurse whose life's work was caring for veterans—was shot and killed by federal agents in Minneapolis.
Our hearts mourn with the Minneapolis community, especially as this tragedy comes just weeks after the killing of Renee Nicole Good.
This violence is not normal and never should be. If you're feeling angry, heartbroken, or searching for a way to respond, I want you to know there is something you can do today:
As long as ICE continues to operate in Minnesota without meaningful oversight, we will not be safe. There must be a fully independent investigation with real teeth and an end to federal agents' operations in Minnesota until an investigation is complete. That's why we need you to send a letter to your federal lawmakers telling them to hold ICE accountable for the chaos they have brought to Minnesota.
SEND MY MESSAGE
Regardless of who you are or where you come from, we must join together and fight for our right to live free from the threat of gun violence. As I always say: We're not okay unless everyone is okay.
We demand accountability for the killings of Renee Nicole Good, Alex Jeffrey Pretti, and the countless others who have been harmed by this violence and chaos. Send a letter to your lawmakers to make your voice heard now.
TAKE ACTION
Gun violence is gun violence, no matter who pulls the trigger.
Please take care of yourselves, take care of each other, and stay safe.
May Renee Nicole Good and Alex Jeffrey Pretti rest in peace.
