Local government capital project funding available soon
Local governments: share your feedback on the process at upcoming listening sessions
Commerce is hosting two listening sessions for local governments to provide input on how a new capital project capacity grant can help overburdened communities. We will share the draft program design and seek community feedback during the listening sessions.
Listening sessions:
Monday, Feb. 9 (register on Zoom)
Tuesday, Feb. 10 (register on Zoom)
Sessions will be recorded. The same material will be presented at both listening sessions. Link to join the online session will be emailed after registration, and session recordings will be available upon request.
There will also be a listening session for tribes. More information will be communicated directly to tribal governments.
About the funding opportunity
Commerce has $1.9 million available for local governments and tribes working on capital projects. Applications will open this spring, and funding can be used to support a range of pre-development and pre-construction activities in historically under-resourced communities.
Not sure if your capital project benefits an overburdened community? Check the State Overburdened Communities map. Activities may include:
Pre-development
- Project plans
- Assessments/analysis (needs, feasibility)
- Budget planning (project budgets, lifecycle cost analysis)
- Community and stakeholder engagement
Pre-construction
- Design (schematic drawings and site plans)
- Studies (architectural, engineering, geotechnical, environmental)
- Permitting
