[ [link removed] ]Ayanna Pressley for Congress
In a deeply harrowing decision handed down by Trump's
Justice Department, it was recently announced that there will be no civil
rights investigation into Alex Pretti’s murder.
This is unacceptable.
What we are dealing with is a rogue government that wants to weaponize law
enforcement against its own citizens — killing people on the street and
brutalizing families — and then shield agents behind qualified immunity to
avoid any accountability for their violence.
That has to end. Ending these protections is something I've spoken on
since running for my seat in the House and I'm not backing down now.
My Qualified Immunity Abolition Act of 2026 would grant victims the right
to sue federal law enforcement officers, including ICE agents, for civil
rights violations. It would abolish the defense of qualified immunity in
these suits and ensure victims and their families get the accountability
they deserve.
As Congress debates the future of DHS funding, we must keep up the public
pressure and show ending qualified immunity for ICE agents has strong
support.

This bill is for Alex Pretti, Renee Good, Keith Porter, the people who
have died in ICE custody, and so many others.
This bill is for every person in America, citizen or not, to know that
when law enforcement officers break the law, they should be held
accountable.
For the families of these victims, and for our country to be truly just,
Congress must end qualified immunity. We need to demonstrate that there’s
real strength behind this legislation right now, pressure Congressional
Republicans and Democrats to stand with their constituents, and get this
passed.
[ [link removed] ]Add your name to show your support: Now is the time to abolish
qualified immunity to ensure that when ICE agents break the law, they are
held accountable.
In solidarity,
Ayanna
