Hi John,
Animal rescuer Zoe Rosenberg is on day 16 of house arrest. Her unjust prosecution for saving lives is continuing to spark outrage and build support for animal rescue.
On Friday, UC Berkeley students, alumni, and local residents held a “Free Zoe” rally on the university campus, which was packed with students and clubs out tabling for the first week back to school. We shared the story of Zoe’s felony prosecution for rescuing four suffering chickens from Perdue’s Petaluma Poultry slaughterhouse, and we directed people to sign the petition at FreeZoe.org, which urges Governor Gavin Newsom to pardon Zoe. A pardon would not only remove the felony from Zoe’s record, but it would also send a clear message that animal rescue is not a crime.
The rally reached a ton of supportive students and it was covered positively by UC Berkeley’s newspaper, The Daily Californian.
Agribusiness giant Perdue and its allies at the Sonoma County District Attorney’s office wanted to silence Zoe. But they failed. While in jail and now on house arrest, Zoe has continued speaking out about Petaluma Poultry’s animal cruelty and their victims’ right to rescue. From her apartment, she is leading online actions against Petaluma Poultry. You can follow Zoe’s Instagram for the latest updates about house arrest and for regular online actions you can join.
Recently, in response to hundreds of social media comments, The Smoking Goat restaurant informed us they are not selling chickens from Petaluma Poultry, but they are refusing to make a commitment to never again source from Petaluma Poultry. Please take a 2-minute action right now to help us get a commitment from this restaurant. Full instructions for contacting them are here.
If you want to hear directly from Zoe and ask her your questions, you can join our Zoom call with Zoe this Saturday, January 31st, at 11:30 AM Pacific Time.

Thanks for your ongoing support!
