John,
Trump’s immigration goons are out of control.
Just weeks after the murder of Renee Good at the hands of an ICE agent in Minneapolis, another federal agent killed Alex Pretti in broad daylight. We cannot let these rogue agencies continue killing people on our streets, illegally abducting and detaining people without due process, and terrorizing communities.
Democrats in the Senate are finally standing up. Many of them, including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, have said they will not support a bill that funds the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) without fundamental changes in how ICE operates.
Make no mistake: Voting to fund Trump’s immigration police is to be complicit in their violence.
This moment demands clarity. Senators must refuse to fund ICE unless and until there are binding, enforceable reforms that rein in abuses, establish real accountability, and protect basic human rights.
Democrats have the numbers to draw this line and some Republicans just might join them, but with a new government shutdown a possible result, they’re under incredible pressure to fold. What they need now is public pressure to hold the line. Tell your senators to oppose all ICE funding that does not include real, systemic reforms.
From deadly encounters to secretive detention practices, ICE is acting with total impunity to terrorize communities across the country. Without structural change, more money will fuel even worse abuses.
At an absolute minimum, senators must refuse to provide any more funding for Trump’s immigration police unless they:
-
Take off their masks.
-
Wear ID.
-
Adopt and follow basic standards of professional policing.
-
Ban armed immigration agents from aimlessly roaming our streets to provoke conflict.
-
Investigate and punish agents who kill, beat, or unlawfully detain people.
Democrats must force reform and responsibility. No more blank checks. Tell senators: no funding for ICE without real reform and real accountability.
Thank you for standing up for communities across the country.
