I voted no.
Republican Senators just failed to advance the Pregnant Students’ Rights Act, a hollow proposal packed with anti-abortion language that undermines Title IX and shames students, all while failing to provide a single meaningful resource to help them stay in school. Even worse, it directs students to file any complaints with the Department of Education, which Trump’s administration has deliberately dismantled.
Millions of students nationwide are balancing school with pregnancy or parenting. They deserve real support, including academic accommodations, childcare options, protections from discrimination, and the freedom to make their own personal healthcare decisions without government interference.
The Pregnant Students’ Rights Act offers none of that.
Pregnant and parenting students shouldn’t be used as political pawns. Can I count on you to rush a donation of any amount to help Democrats take back the Senate so we can defeat the GOP’s attacks on reproductive rights?
Republicans’ attacks on reproductive freedom are never-ending. They’ve worked to overturn Roe v. Wade, limit birth control access, and weaken affordable healthcare for providing reproductive care services.
The Pregnant Students' Rights Act, despite its misleading name, is just their latest attack on reproductive rights. The GOP's attempts to undermine reproductive rights will further stigmatize students' reproductive healthcare decisions and weaken existing legal protections.
It’s no secret that the GOP is plotting a national abortion ban, and this bill is another step in that direction. This bill may have failed, but the GOP won't stop trying to ram through anti-abortion bills under their majority.
So please: Can you rush a donation of $10, $25, or more to help me continue fighting to defend reproductive freedom? Your support will ensure more Democrats can join me in protecting your rights.
