Folks,

I’ve heard overwhelmingly from supporters, constituents, and voters at this difficult moment for our country, so I wanted to make sure you heard this statement from me directly:

I cannot and will not vote to fund the Department of Homeland Security while this administration continues these violent federal takeovers of our cities.

President Trump’s endless empowerment of federal immigration agents has resulted in yet another senseless killing. Renee Good and Alex Pretti should both still be with us today.

We cannot continue down this path. Our country is better than this.

Without the majority in Congress, withholding funding for the DHS is one of the few levers Democrats in the Senate have to demand further guardrails at this moment. But the reality is, the best way to hold Trump and this administration accountable is to flip the balance of power in Congress this year.

I will continue to work for transparency and accountability in Washington – while fighting like hell to hold this critical seat and elect Democrats across Virginia so we can flip the House and the Senate in November.

Please know how grateful I am to have you in this fight with me.

Keep speaking up. Your voice is making a difference.

The fight continues,

Mark
