First, Democrat Taylor Rehmet forced a runoff in the special election for Senate District 9 after beating two Republicans in a district Trump won by 17 points.
Then, Powered by People did what we do best: hit the ground to organize across the district, train volunteers, register voters, and make sure Taylor has the organizing infrastructure necessary to FLIP this seat in Tarrant County.
Now, Steve Bannon (yes, that Steve Bannon) is raising the alarm about our organizing work in Senate District 9 and using his podcast to attack Beto.
Bannon just had Taylor Rehmet’s opponent on his podcast to rally the MAGA world before this weekend’s special election. Here’s what she told Bannon:
“The Beto O’Rourke organization, Powered by People…are behind this race against me. It is their goal to take Tarrant County. They know that as Tarrant County goes, so goes Texas.”
She went on to attack Beto and spread lies about Powered by People. But we’re not going to let her and Bannon slow us down; we’re going to organize harder, reach more voters, and ensure we get out the vote for Saturday’s special election.
Because she’s right about one thing: Tarrant County IS a bellwether. Beto won it in 2018, and we can win it again. But this election is going to be a tight one. Taylor got 48% to win a place in the runoff. The next 3% are going to take everything we’ve got.
