Dear John,

The killing of Alex Pretti in Minnesota has reminded us of the urgency of public witness grounded in human dignity, compassion, and justice. Our Catholic tradition calls us not to turn away, but to show up together with courage and care.

We invite you to join Catholics and people of faith from across the country for a national Zoom gathering for prayer, reflection, and faithful action. Hear from people on the ground in Minnesota and across the country who are faithfully witnessing to the injustice towards our neighbors. This will be a welcoming space to connect, reflect, and discern how Love is calling us forward in this moment.

We are also sharing resources for schools, campuses, and parishes to support communities in leaning into their prophetic witness, along with a clear way to take action by contacting your Senators. We invite you to urge that any future funding for ICE and CBP include safeguards that protect human dignity, family unity, and due process.

Our faith reminds us that love is not passive. Together, we commit to building beloved community through prayerful presence and courageous public witness.

We hope you’ll join us.
In hope and solidarity,

Jon Gromek
Director of Justice Formation and Action
