Friend,
As we are sure that you have heard, federal immigration agents just killed two people in Minneapolis in less than three weeks.
On January 7, ICE agents shot and killed Renée Nicole Good, a 37-year-old LGBTQ U.S. citizen, poet, and mother. On Saturday, CBP agents shot and killed Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse and U.S. citizen.
The violence is only escalating, and now members of Congress are moving to give the agencies responsible even more money!
This week, Congress is advancing a funding bill that would dramatically expand ICE and CBP’s power without meaningful oversight, despite nationwide outrage over raids, warrantless arrests, and lethal force.
The FY2026 DHS Bill would fund:
ICE and CBP agents are using that funding to break down doors without warrants, to pull refugees from their homes, to violently suppress protests, and to fire weapons in residential neighborhoods. Communities across the country are demanding Congress rein in DHS—not reward it with more money. Now, it’s your turn to take action.
If Congress passes this bill, they are choosing complicity in this horrific violence. Let’s make sure they hear from us before the vote. Our partners at the National Immigration Law Center have created a tool to make it easy to voice your opinion.
Take action with NILC’s tool now! Contact your Senators and demand they vote NO on the FY2026 DHS Bill and halt all funding for ICE and CBP.
In solidarity,
Immigration Equality Action Fund
