Over the weekend, ICE in Minnesota executed yet another person: an intensive care unit nurse and 37 year-old, Alex Jeffrey Peretti. They wrestled him to the ground and shot him multiple times. And now they have wasted no time in using their same playbook to keep the cycle of violence going. The Administration lies about the victims, and the media shares the “official” narrative. This is the pattern Color Of Change has consistently documented in our research. The Trump Administration thinks we will accept this.
We will not.
Minnesotans have been clear–get ICE out. Local leaders have demanded it. But federal agents are still acting without any care for the people. If ICE can kill an ICU nurse in broad daylight, then Trump will have no problem using his paramilitary to attack Black communities.
VOTE NO ON THE HOMELAND SECURITY FUNDING BILL
Congress used the One Big Ugly Bill to steal money from your health care. Trump used that money to explode ICE’s budget by 700%. And despite rising affordability issues, Republicans refuse to extend the enhanced premium tax credits to lower health care costs.
Republicans would rather send your hard-earned dollars to ICE and billionaires than pay for health care and lower your daily costs. It tells you everything about their priorities. Trump is using your health care dollars to enforce a neo-segregationist agenda and kill people in plain sight.
Congress is rushing to vote on a bill that increases ICE’s budget even more. This is after they already extended billions in funding for DHS and ICE without any accountability.
We have a choice: Abolish ICE, or watch ICE dismantle our democracy and communities.
We urge you to call your Senators and tell them to vote NO on the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations bill.
