It's time to dismantle and defund ICE, Johh.

I don't need to give a big speech here to explain why. We have all seen it — on our phones, on our televisions, in the footage coming out of the Twin Cities over the past several days. We've seen just what Kristi Noem and her thugs are capable of.

In Minnesota, the streets are rampant with fear and violence. Legal immigrants are asked to carry around their papers and when they can't produce them, face attacks from ICE agents who barely know the law. Two American citizens are now dead. One was an ICU nurse who stepped in to help a woman being attacked by ICE agents. The other was a prize-winning poet and a mother of three who was standing up for her neighbors. And in a final, disgusting insult, the Trump Justice Department is labeling both of them "domestic terrorists."

My deepest sympathies are with the families and loved ones of Alex Pretti and Renee Good, and with every family living in fear of ICE and Border Patrol today. In their memory, and in defense of our most basic values, it is time to end this brutality and demand accountability.

I will not support funding for the Department of Homeland Security when ICE and Border Patrol agents are assaulting protestors, detaining and arresting people with impunity, inciting violence, and shooting and killing American citizens.
