Protecting Our Communities: Essential Resources for Business Leaders
View in browser

Dear John,

This weekend, another American citizen was killed by federal agents in Minneapolis. Alex Pretti joins Renee Good – both killed while exercising their constitutional right to protest, both without charges, trial, or due process.

The American Sustainable Business Network has released a statement: The Private Sector Will Not Stay Silent: Lethal Force Without Due Process is Unconstitutional.

Businesses cannot function when the rule of law is suspended. Local commerce depends on trust. Trust that government agents will follow the law, that constitutional rights will be upheld, and that power will be constrained by accountability.

When that trust shatters, workers fear showing up. Customers stay home. Commerce stops.

This is not a partisan issue. This is about whether businesses can operate under the rule of law or under fear. The private sector has a responsibility to speak out when democracy is under threat.

Silence is not neutral. Silence enables erosion of our rights and our economy. Businesses cannot, and will not, thrive in a nation governed by fear instead of justice.

      In solidarity,

      Camilla and David
