[link removed] [[link removed]] John,
The answer is no.
As we mourned the tragic loss of Alex Pretti this weekend, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi demanded that Minnesota hand over private voter data, including Social Security and driver’s license information, as part of a letter tied to ICE’s surge in our state.
That demand is unlawful. And I rejected it.
Minnesota’s elections are fair, accurate, honest, and secure. And I believe the law is clear. The federal government does not have the authority to obtain private voter data on millions of Minnesotans.
This isn’t the first request, nor will it be the last attempt to gain private voter data. I will always protect your privacy, consistent with the law, but I need your help. Will you chip in $10 or more today to help me continue standing up for the rule of law and the privacy of our voters? [[link removed]]

This was not the first time the Department of Justice has tried to pressure my office to turn over this data. We have repeatedly explained, in detail, how Minnesota securely manages voter registration files. We have even offered to share voter data that is already public.
The DOJ refused.
Instead, they doubled down, despite knowing this issue is already in active litigation and despite knowing the Governor has no role in administering elections.
Thirty-one states have now said no to similar demands. Courts have already dismissed the DOJ’s claims in multiple cases.
In Minnesota, our position starts and ends with the law. We will protect voter privacy. We will defend local election officials who do their jobs with integrity. And we will not allow unlawful federal coercion to undermine our democracy.
If you believe the rule of law matters, I’m asking for your help today. Please chip in $10 or whatever you can. [[link removed]]
Thank you for standing with me,
Steve
