Email from Rep. Gonzales Texas Winter Storm Resources Texas is experiencing a winter storm that is bringing cold temperatures and dangerous conditions that may cause impacts to infrastructure. Team Gonzales is here to help. Please reach out to my office at 210-806-9920 to be connected to a member of our team, or visit my website for more information and resources. Stay safe and warm, TX-23. New Funding for Our District This month, the U.S. House of Representatives completed its work to pass all annual funding bills. Through my seat on the House Appropriations Committee, I secured over $42 million in TX-23 investments that will go directly to communities across South and West Texas. These projects will help our veterans have better access to services, provide law enforcement officers with more resources, make important school safety upgrades, improve emergency response efforts, and support water infrastructure across TX-23. Click here to read more about the funding I secured for these community investments. I also helped secure $1.4 billion for law enforcement entities to combat drug trafficking and transnational crime. Along with funding to combat transnational crime, I also secured $5 million for the North American Development Bank. The North American Development Bank has been instrumental in helping finance, plan, and implement efforts to improve critical infrastructure along our border. I led the charge to increase this funding from $4 million to $5 million. These resources will soon be on the way to our communities, and I look forward to seeing these important projects break ground across our district. Election Security = National Security This week, I questioned the Acting Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) during a committee hearing. We discussed CISA's efforts to safeguard election integrity and clamp down on any threats of foreign interference. As a retired Navy cryptologist, I know how essential it is for Congress to partner with our federal agencies and ensure our elections are fair and free from manipulation. Backing the Blue In Washington, I was recognized as an All-Star Legislator by the Police Officers' Defense Coalition for my pro-law enforcement record. Across multiple scorecards, I have received a 100% rating for my efforts to back the blue. I will continue supporting our law enforcement at all levels of government. Advocating for Our Military Installations Last week, I met with the Under Secretary of the U.S. Air Force, Matthew Lohmeier, in Washington, D.C. We discussed important priorities for our Air Force bases in TX-23, including JBSA-Lackland in San Antonio, and Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio. We have a shared goal of improving the quality of life for our servicemembers and enhancing military readiness. Working with TxDOT I also met with Texas Department of Transportation representatives and received an update on key projects that are ongoing across TX-23. Roadway access and strong economic activity go hand-in-hand. I look forward to continuing my partnership with TxDOT to ensure the timely buildout of our infrastructure in Texas. Fighting Antisemitism Last Friday, I met with Jewish leaders in San Antonio to discuss how we can work together to protect against targeted violence. Antisemitism has no place in our communities, and everyone deserves to feel safe at their places of worship. PICTURED: Congressman Gonzales meeting Jewish leaders in San Antonio. On the Go in Medina County I also had a productive day in Medina County, where I visited Boise Cascade's new distribution facility in Hondo. Boise Cascade is one of the biggest producers of wood products and plywood in the U.S., and recently opened its Medina County location in August. Excited they're creating jobs and spurring economic growth in TX-23. PICTURED: Congressman Gonzales touring the Boise Cascade distribution facility in Hondo. Texas Farm Bureau Meeting I then met with members of the Texas Farm Bureau in Castroville. I've been hard at work in Congress, leading the charge to combat the New World screwworm, securing tax relief for rural landowners, and delivering new resources for agricultural communities. Always appreciate the Texas Farm Bureau's partnership on these efforts! PICTURED: Congressman Gonzales meeting with Texas Farm Bureau representatives. My team and I are always available to assist you. Please feel free to contact my office at any time.
