Believe your own eyes.

I watched the video of what happened in Minneapolis yesterday probably a dozen times, and I want to encourage people to believe what they see, no matter what this Administration says.

Alex Pretti was helping a woman who was shoved to the ground by federal law enforcement. Then, he was pepper sprayed and shot.

Last night, his parents asked us to get the truth out about their son — and that's what we must do.

He worked at the VA caring for veterans, he was not a threat, and now he is the second American citizen killed in Minneapolis in a week while the Department of Homeland Security blocks an independent investigation.

And what I want to know is when will my Republican colleagues have the courage to speak out against this chaos?

What this Administration is doing isn't making communities any safer. It's doing the opposite and it has to stop now. It is possible to enforce our laws without federal agents killing people in the streets.

I want you to know that I am going to do everything I can to stop Trump's deployment of federal law enforcement against American cities. As a Senator, I have the opportunity to vote NO on the Department of Homeland Security budget this week, and that is what I will do.

And I hope you’ll join me by making your voice heard, supporting causes you believe are important in this moment, and never losing the faith that we are better than this as a country.
