Trump’s ICE murdered Alex Jeffrey Pretti on the streets of Minneapolis today. He was a 37-year-old nurse.1
ICE has consistently met any peaceful protest, our mechanism for accountability, with more state-sanctioned violence. They’re meeting whistles with guns, parents with cameras with gun shots—and then, even when we have video evidence of their violence, they're telling us not to believe our eyes.
For weeks, in freezing cold temperatures, Minnesotans have been leading the way in the face of Trump’s brutality. Trump and ICE are doing everything they can to force them to give up. Minnesotans are doing the opposite.2
Peacefully protesting by the thousands, delivering groceries to their immigrant neighbors, driving friends to doctor appointments, walking children to school—all to protect their communities from the federal government. Minnesotans are showing up for Renee Nicole Good, for Alex Jeffrey Pretti, for 5-year-old Liam Ramos who was abducted by ICE, and countless others. Now, it’s on us to show up for them.

Minnesotans are rightfully grieving and furious. They never wanted ICE to be there in the first place. They’re asking for two things from the rest of us:
1) To get the truth out about what happened today and stop right-wing media and the Trump administration from pushing their lies.
2) Real, tangible support for the communities now forced to pick up the pieces.
When police murdered George Floyd—less than one mile from where ICE killed Renee Good—MoveOn members raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to bail out protesters.
This is what MoveOn members do. When a crisis hits, we show up for the organizers and people on the ground doing the work.
ICE has no place in Minnesota or anywhere in our country. Period.
Not a single person in this country deserves to be killed by the government, which should support and protect our constitutional rights. Alex Jeffrey Pretti and so many others should be alive right now.
Trump’s administration will keep unleashing this violence on our communities and continue to try to cover it up. We will not let them.
We will stand in solidarity with Minnesotans who need our support, and we will pressure Congress to stop the funding that allows this terror to continue. To hold ICE accountable, we must cut them off at the source:
There can be NO more money given to fund this violence. The funding must stop before ICE claims even more lives. They cut our health care to pay for these senseless deaths and abductions of children.
