Dear John,

LULAC is sounding the alarm: Minneapolis and Minnesota communities are being
pushed toward chaos by an intensified federal immigration enforcement presence.
Reports of deadly incidents and escalating clashes during operations underscore a
simple truth—people are being put in danger, and lives are being lost. THIS IS
OUT OF CONTROL, AND IT MUST STOP. [ [link removed] ]
No policy objective justifies militarizing neighborhoods, turning community
spaces into zones of intimidation, or placing innocent civilians in harm’s way.

That urgency is painfully clear in the killing of Alex Pretti. Pretti was a
37-year-old ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA, described by family and colleagues
as a person who cared deeply about others and lived a life rooted in service. He
was shot and killed during a federal immigration enforcement operation in south
Minneapolis, as bystander video shows Alex holding a phone. Minnesota cannot
accept a system where lethal force and secrecy replace restraint, transparency,
and basic human dignity.

LULAC demands an immediate stand-down and the withdrawal of ICE-led enforcement
operations from Minnesota [ [link removed] ] , along
with real accountability—clear identification of agents, consistent use of
body-worn cameras, and independent review of any use-of-force incidents. And
Congress must act now: cut DHS enforcement funding from the current spending bill
and refuse any blank checks that expand or sustain militarized immigration
enforcement. Redirect federal dollars toward real community safety—legal support,
victim services, and resources that keep families safe. SIGN THIS PETITION [ [link removed] ] ,
share it widely, and contact your Senators and Representative today: ICE out of
Minnesota, stand down now, and cut DHS enforcement funding from this bill.
