I never expected to write an email like this. But Donald Trump’s Department of Justice just opened an investigation into me – not because I broke the law, but because I refused to stay silent when Minnesotans demanded accountability and answers.

Let me be clear: this investigation does not seek justice. It is a partisan distraction designed to intimidate governors who stand up for their people.

After Trump’s escalation of force in Minnesota, my focus was exactly where it should be: protecting the people of this state, not protecting myself. Families are scared. Kids are afraid to go to school. Small businesses are hurting. That's where the energy of the federal government should be directed – not political retaliation.

Donald Trump wants chaos – and he’s using the DOJ as a weapon to create it. But Minnesota will not be intimidated into silence, and neither will I.

Team, MAGA Republicans can come after me, lie about me on social media, and do whatever else they want – but when they hurt the people of Minnesota to score political points, that crosses a line.

I may have stepped out of my own race, but I am all-in on this fight – because governors are the last line of defense against Trump’s harmful agenda.

In November, when 36 gubernatorial races are up for election, and 80% of Americans are casting ballots for governor, if we are going to win, we need you on our side. We need Democrats nationwide to step up now and join us in sending an unmistakable message to Donald Trump and the GOP.
