Team, one year ago this week, Donald Trump was sworn into office for the second time.
The last year has been a hard one in America.
Families are stretched thin from rising costs. More people are trying to get by without health insurance. Trump is driving electricity prices up by denying Americans cheap clean energy, forcing grids to go back to expensive polluting fossil plants — all to pay back his fossil fuel donors with your money.
Parents are anxious about putting food on the table for their kids. And they’re anxious about our country’s security. And they’re anxious about the climate crisis boiling the planet for the next generation.
Masked men are hauling off small children and vulnerable people who haven’t broken any laws. The truth is, every American is less safe.
Meanwhile, Trump is trying to entrench his power through brazen corruption. He has already used his office and the legal immunity gifted to him by this Supreme Court to rake in well over a billion dollars.
The American people see clearly: Trump is making things worse in a hurry, for everyone but himself and his cronies.
We will defend our democracy. Americans are brave and all across the country, they are speaking out for what’s right. I hope you will continue standing with me in this fight.
