Friend — Yesterday, the House voted on a package of funding for DHS and ICE.
I voted NO. No money for ICE as they terrorize my city and my state. No money for this runaway gang of thugs as they destroy the Constitution.
The package that Republicans passed hands over another $64 Billion for DHS, including $10 Billion for ICE. That’s absolutely ridiculous.
Imagine what we could do with that money instead of trampling on civil rights, disappearing people, arresting US citizens by “accident”, and brutalizing protesters.
We could bring back cancer research that Trump cut instead of deporting kids with cancer. We could bring back Department of Education programs that were defunded instead of pulling kids out of school and separating them from their families. We could restore USAID programs that helped save millions of lives instead of ruining innocent lives like Renee Good’s.
But Trump and Republicans prioritize their gestapo secret police over the health and well-being of Americans. It’s shameful.
So Friend, here’s my proposed funding for ICE: $0.
Let’s defund and dismantle this rogue agency that has proven to be irresponsible, ineffective, and completely unnecessary. Let’s create a fair, humane, common sense immigration system that doesn’t require barbaric violence to enforce.
