Email from City of Auburn Winter weather ahead...Auburn opens warming center   Visit our Website NEWS FROM THE CITY OF AUBURN Due to the impending storm, the City of Auburn has issued a WINTER PARKING BAN. The ban will begin Sunday, January 25 at 9:00PM and end at 7:00AM on Tuesday, January 27.  Service Update: Trash & Recycling Auburn's curbside collection will run one day later than normal next week: Monday → Tuesday Tuesday → Wednesday Wednesday → Thursday Thursday → Friday Friday → Saturday Next week will remain a "B" week for recycling collection. Reminder to have your items curbside no later than 7AM on your collection day. Thank you for your patience and cooperation. Warming Center The weekend ahead will be very cold, Auburn. If you need a place to warm up and/or charge devices on Saturday, the Auburn Senior Community Center (next to Auburn Rec at 48 Pettengill Park Road) will be open as a warming center from 9:00AM to 5:00PM.  The Auburn Public Library (49 Spring Street) is another cozy spot to spend some time on Saturday — they’ll be open 9:00AM to 1:00PM.  On Sunday, head to Norway Savings Bank Arena for public skate from 3:50 to 4:50PM. Skate for $5, or simply enjoy the warmth of the mezzanine level. Rental skates are available for $5.  Stay warm, Auburn — and check in on neighbors who may need a hand. Winter Storm Preparedness: Please Plan Ahead! A period of very cold temperatures and significant snowfall is expected this weekend, Auburn. City crews are preparing, and we ask residents to take a few steps now to stay safe and help things run smoothly: Before the storm: * Stock up on essentials (food, medications, pet supplies). * Check your heating source and make sure vents are clear. * Charge phones and devices in case of power outages. * Bring pets indoors and check on neighbors. During the storm: * Avoid unnecessary travel once snow begins - just stay home. * Give plow trucks plenty of space and be patient. * Dress in layers and limit time outdoors in extreme cold. * Watch closely for signs of hypothermia, frostbite, or CO2 poisoning. Learn more. * If needed, visit the 24-hour Emergency Warming Center at 70 Horton Street in Lewiston. After the storm: * Use caution when shoveling; take breaks and know your limits. * Keep hydrants and vents clear of snow if you’re able. * Watch for updates from the City regarding closures and service updates.
