Several weeks ago, myself and five other Members of Congress with service and veteran backgrounds made a video directly quoting the Uniform Code of Military Justice about the military’s responsibility to reject illegal orders.
In response, President Trump called for my arrest, trial and death by hanging.
Just recently, I learned that former Fox News host Jeanine Pirro, U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, asked to interview me.
This is on top of the FBI’s Counterterrorism Division’s inquiry at the end of last year.
As a former CIA officer, I've seen democracies flicker out. I’ve seen what life is like when a government is rigged. I’ve studied this kind of political authoritarianism in other countries where you can't criticize the guys in charge without getting a knock at the door in the middle of the night.
It’s hard to believe I am talking about it in my own country, and the knock is happening on my door.
I've always tried to be straight with you in these emails. When these threats happen, it requires a strategy -- because no American wants to live in a country where the president can weaponize the government against his perceived enemies.
So please: split a contribution between Motor City PAC and my campaign today to help defend me from these attacks and allow me to keep fighting to defend our democracy.
