Democrat,
Amongst an energetic crowd of family, friends, state and local leaders, supporters and more, Mikie Sherrill was sworn-in this week as New Jersey’s 57th governor.
From the moment I met Governor Sherrill nearly a decade ago, I saw her passion for public service and drive to make our state a better place for all. In Congress, she continually delivered on her promises, from securing funding for the Gateway Tunnel to flood mitigation and lower prescription drug costs. She will bring that same tenacity to get things done statewide to lower the cost of utilities and housing, improve accountability in Trenton, and stand tough against the chaotic overreach of the Trump administration.
The people of the Garden State have put their confidence in her, as well as Lieutenant Governor Dale Caldwell, to deliver on their agenda of affordability, prosperity, and transparency. Within minutes of being sworn in, Governor Sherrill took action, signing executive orders declaring a State of Emergency on utility prices, freezing rate hikes and expanding in-state power generation. Governor Sherrill is on a mission to deliver and she’s already keeping promises.
If you live in the governor’s old congressional district, there’s a special election right around the corner. Early in-person starts next Thursday, January 29 and ends February 3. Election Day is February 5. Make sure you have a plan to vote!
— Chairman LeRoy J. Jones, Jr.
SHERRILL’S FIRST 100 DAYS
Beyond the first two executive orders addressing the cost of utilities, Governor Sherrill signed four more orders on Day One focused on greater government accountability, improving our kids’ mental health, and cutting through red tape for people trying to start businesses in our state. These were all major pillars of her campaign to save you time and money, protect our kids from dangers online, and make the government work better for you.
TRUMP DOESN’T CARE ABOUT LOWERING COSTS
The current state of the economy is a worry for every family. The cost of food, housing, and healthcare continues to rise, breaking budgets and keeping us up at night. Donald Trump has only made it worse. A new report revealed that American consumers and importers, not foreign exporters, are bearing 96% of the costs of Trump’s tariffs.
What does Trump think of all this? This week, he claimed that “inflation is defeated” and people are “very happy with me,” despite 60% of Americans disapproving of his handling of the economy. Trump and Congressional Republicans are more focused on acquiring Greenland than solving the affordability crisis.
We must take back Congress to get our government working on issues that matter, instead of picking fights abroad. We can do that by flipping NJ-02, NJ-04, and NJ-07.
THANK YOU GOVERNOR MURPHY
Phil Murphy is a leader New Jersey history will remember for his tough fights, promises fulfilled, and passion for public service. Under his leadership, workers got a raise, securing a $15 minimum wage. After years of disinvestment, Planned Parenthood saw its funding restored and New Jerseyans were able to better access care. In the face of a chaotic and reckless Trump administration, Governor Murphy made clear New Jersey would not back down or let abuse of power go unchecked. Governor Murphy moved our state forward, fighting for every family, regardless if you voted for him or not. We all thank him for his years of service, alongside First Lady Tammy Murphy, to our state.
