Vanita immigrated from India as a child and has called Connecticut home for decades. She brings a lived understanding of opportunity, belonging, and what’s at stake in our elections.
After a successful private-sector career in sales, marketing, and executive recruiting/coaching, Vanita retired from professional practice to devote her time and expertise to civic and political engagement.
Through her service as State Party Treasurer, a four-term member of the Democratic State Central Committee, and a leader within the Connecticut AAPI Caucus, Vanita has helped strengthen our organization and build the infrastructure and coalitions that allow Connecticut Democrats to compete and win at the state level.
At the local level, she serves on the Woodbury Democratic Town Committee and is a member of the Woodbury Library Board of Trustees, staying connected to the community she and her wife call home.
Vanita’s leadership has been recognized statewide with the Ella Grasso Leadership Award and the William A. O’Neill Leadership Award, which honor Democrats who strengthen our party and advance equality and justice.
As Vice Chair, Vanita brings experience, institutional knowledge, and a deep commitment to ensuring the Connecticut Democratic Party remains strong, inclusive, and prepared for the work ahead.
