Look, I get it John.

I understand that for everyone in our communities, this moment is extremely challenging and anxious.

A demagogue in the White House, costs not matching wages, strife and displacement for millions. It’s a lot to take in at once, and can make our visions for an equitable future seem daunting, if achievable at all.

I’m not going to sugarcoat it. These months ahead will be difficult, and we can’t and won’t be able to control some of the worst decisions that come from Washington.

But we’re not defeated. There is nothing certain about a hopeless, authoritarian future as long as we don’t accept it as inevitable, and continue to lean in together for what we know in our hearts is the right way forward.

We can treat today as the start of a new moment for each of us with progressive ideals, and know that we can deliver wins for what’s right for working people – now and with our next Governor.

It won’t come from one significant check from Silicon Valley, or dividends from a stock buyback. But it will come piece by piece, one person at a time.

If you’re with me, and ready to use this moment to build towards what we know is the way forward — by staying connected and building and strengthening our communities — use this link to make a contribution. Help power our movement to ensure California adds up for everyone who calls it home.

Our families, those who’ve sacrificed to get us the rights we have to protect, and those not yet old enough to fight whose gains are at risk, are counting on us to keep going.

Together,

Betty
