I submit that subsequent events, far from justifying Henry's [VIII] despotism, have justified Thomas More in his belief in constitutional government, and above all in his belief that there is a Divine and a Natural Law, which cannot be set aside to provide a short-cut for the despotism of the omni-competent state.
