Team, I need you to hear this directly from me:

I’m not like every other politician. But I know that my story is similar to the stories of so many other Illinoisans I meet around the state. I’m a mother, a daughter, a caretaker, a justice advocate, a life-long public servant — and a fighter.

That’s why I’m running for the United States Senate. Not to protect corporate profits. Not to play party politics. And not to benefit the well-connected. But to represent you — to bring your voices, your concerns, and your ideas to Washington — and to deliver real progress for working families.

Too often, politicians talk about the middle class on the campaign trail, only to forget about us once they’re elected. But Illinois deserves better.

I’ve spent the last six years as Lieutenant Governor of Illinois, proving what’s possible when we put everyday people at the center of our work, not on the sidelines. And I’ve seen firsthand that progress is possible when we treat the needs of middle-class families as a focal point, not just a talking point.

My opponents, however, are the epitome of what’s holding Washington back. They’ve been in Congress for a decade, but have stood on the sidelines when it comes to defending working families. They promised progress on the campaign trail year after year, but didn't deliver.

I did.

We’re living in a moment of deep urgency. Donald Trump is destroying our country and attacking our immigrant neighbors. He’s waging a war on the middle class. But if we have the courage to act boldly, we can meet this moment head-on and build something better.

So we need new voices in Washington who will stand firm and fight fiercely to move us forward and protect the values we hold dear.

I am that leader, and I promise to fight every day for the people of Illinois. But I can’t do it alone.
