This is Cisco Aguilar, Nevada’s Secretary of State.

I’m reaching out with an important update -- and a serious one.

Trump’s Department of Justice is suing Nevada because I refused to hand over voters’ most sensitive personal information, including driver’s license numbers and partial Social Security numbers.

Let me be clear: I will not do it.

Nevada law protects this information for a reason. Turning it over without clear legal authority, without safeguards, and without transparency would put Nevadans’ privacy and security at risk -- and that’s not something I’m willing to accept.

Protecting our elections doesn’t just mean counting ballots accurately. It also means protecting voters themselves -- their data, their safety, and their trust in the system.

This lawsuit puts real pressure on us. I’m in a tough re-election campaign, and there are powerful interests that would like nothing more than to see me pushed out for refusing to back down.

And in a swing state like Nevada -- where election outcomes can shape the future of the country -- the stakes couldn’t be higher.
