Update from Rep. Jones - ICE Out of MN Day this Friday
Dear Neighbors,
ICE's "Operation Metro Surge" in the last two months has taken neighbors and loved ones, violated civil rights, caused fear in our community, and negatively impacted our local businesses and schools. Such actions are not about immigration enforcement. It has become a campaign of fear and intimidation and that too often has resulted in violence. Minnesotans deserve to feel safe in our communities. It's time for this operation to end.
Community leaders, unions, and faith organizations are calling for a general strike tomorrow, Friday January 23rd to end ICE's unconstitutional activities. It’ll be a day for moral action and reflection: no work, no school, no shopping — only community, conscience, and collective action. Now is the time to stand up and speak out to protect our constitutional rights. For more details and information about the strike, click this link.
We'll plan to march at 2:00 p.m. at the Commons in Downtown Minneapolis. Please note: extreme cod is expected Thursday through Saturday. Dress and make your plans accordingly so that you and loved ones stay safe. If you feel unable to join the march, consider other impactful actions.
Hope to see you there!
In solidarity,
Katie Jones State Representative
