Today marks the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s landmark Roe v. Wade decision, a ruling that once recognized reproductive freedom as a fundamental right.
But instead of celebrating how far we’ve come, we’re confronting how quickly that progress can be undone.
Despite decades of settled precedent, a conservative Supreme Court reshaped by Donald Trump overturned Roe, stripping millions of women of the right to make their own health care decisions. In the aftermath, states across the country have enacted extreme abortion bans and restrictions. But not Maine.
Under Governor Mills, Maine has expanded access to critical reproductive health services. But as rights are being rolled back across the country, we can’t afford to stand still. I’m running for governor to move Maine forward by enshrining reproductive freedom in our state constitution—so these decisions remain private, protected, and permanent.
I have always fought for reproductive rights - throughout my political career - and I’ll always stand up for the freedom for women and families to make their own decisions. I’ll work to ensure access to care in our large, rural state as President Trump and Republicans in Congress work to block access to funding for abortion and family planning.
That’s why this election matters. Democratic governors must stand up to this administration and serve as a strong first line of defense for the people of Maine.
I’m asking you to stand with me, help power this fight, and ensure Maine remains a place where reproductive freedom is protected for everyone. Will you chip in to my campaign today?
