 Legislative Update from Representative Bierman
Dear Neighbors,
A big thank you to everyone who joined us at Dunn Brothers for our most recent community coffee hour earlier this month. We had nearly 40 attendees which is reflective of how engaged Apple Valley is with everything going on in our state. Thank you to everyone who showed up, listened, and shared their perspectives.
Our next community coffee hour is this Saturday, January 24 at 9:30 a.m. at Galaxie Library (14955 Galaxie Ave, Apple Valley, MN 55124).
Everyone is welcome, and there is no cost to attend. I hope you can join us!
I continue to receive inquiries about how people in our district can help our community. Below are resources to learn how to protect our neighbors lawfully, and to document ICE activity safely:
My colleagues in the Senate DFL have put together a powerful and practical immigration resource toolkit. In the House, we have also compiled immigration resources, and they are available for our neighbors in English, Spanish, Somali, and Hmong.
Please also check out 360 Communities’ website to learn more about volunteer opportunities.
If your rights have been violated by federal immigration agents, as we have seen happen with increased regularity in recent days, please let the Minnesota Attorney General's Office know about it. This newly launched web portal will help hold ICE accountable when we can put this occupation behind us.
Visit to Falcon Ridge Middle School
I recently had a chance to swing by Falcon Ridge Middle School to connect with Principal Dr. Becky Melville and check in about school safety and protocols amid ICE’s “Operation Metro Surge.” It was great to meet Herbie the Golden Retriever and therapy dog and learn how he’s helping support ISD #196 students during this incredibly stressful time.
Keep in Touch
Please continue to keep in touch and contact me anytime at [email protected] or 651-296-5506. I’m grateful for the opportunity to help if I can.
Thank you for the honor of working with you and our Apple Valley neighbors in St. Paul.
I hope to see you on Saturday!
Sincerely,
Robert Bierman State Representative
