January 22, 2026 Dear John xxxxxx,
A winter storm watch is in effect for the Greater Houston area this weekend, and now is the time to prepare. Cold temperatures, freezing conditions, and potential power outages can happen quickly. Taking a few steps today can help protect your family, pets, and home.

Stay informed and monitor updates closely. Conditions may change rapidly. Please follow trusted local sources for real-time updates and alerts:
Remember the 4 P’s of Winter Weather Preparedness
People
- Check on seniors, neighbors, and anyone who may need extra support
- Keep warm clothing, blankets, medications, and medical devices ready
- Prepare for possible power outages with flashlights, batteries, and backup phone chargers
Pets
- Bring pets indoors during freezing temperatures
- Ensure animals have warm shelter and unfrozen water
- Stock extra pet food, medications, and supplies
Pipes
- Wrap exposed pipes and outdoor faucets before temperatures drop
- Let faucets drip overnight during freezes
- Know where and how to shut off your water in case a pipe bursts
Plants
- Cover or bring in sensitive plants
- Water plants ahead of a freeze to protect roots
- Move potted plants indoors or to sheltered areas
Winter weather can be dangerous if you’re not prepared, but a little planning now can make all the difference.
Please take time today to prepare and continue monitoring official updates from trusted partners and my social media throughout the weekend.
Stay safe and stay warm!
Sincerely,
Sylvia R. Garcia
