Lt. Governor Tressel Makes First Stop of WorkOhio Kickoff Tour in Cincinnati

Ohio Lt. Governor Jim Tressel visited local workforce development leaders in Cincinnati today for an event kicking off his new WorkOhio program for the Southwest Region of the state. The Lt. Governor was joined by officials from the Cincinnati Regional Chamber's Workforce Innovation Center – the WorkOhio Regional Job Hub for Southwest Ohio – as well as numerous other organizations serving as "Community Connectors" through the program.
(CINCINNATI, Ohio)—Ohio Lt. Governor Jim Tressel traveled to Cincinnati today for the first stop of his statewide WorkOhio Kickoff Tour.
WorkOhio [ [link removed] ] is a new initiative to connect Ohioans with in-demand jobs in their area through personalized support from teams of regional job experts. The program was announced [ [link removed] ] by Lt. Governor Tressel last week.
“There are great opportunities opening up in every corner of Ohio, and Southwest Ohio is no exception,” Lt. Governor Tressel said. “With WorkOhio, we are making it easier for people to start a job search and find great opportunities close to home by connecting them with local experts who know the employers, the industries, and the resources that can help them reach their full potential.”

Lt. Governor Tressel spoke in front of a group of workforce development leaders from Southwest Ohio at Wednesday's event. Through the new WorkOhio program, the area’s Regional Job Hub and Community Connectors will work as a team to connect Ohio job seekers in the area with available resources and job opportunities.
Through the website WorkOhio.gov [ [link removed] ], Ohio job seekers can request one-on-one support from a local job expert in their region or explore training programs, job resources, and career tools tailored to their background and goals. Read more about the program here [ [link removed] ].
Today’s event was hosted by the Cincinnati Regional Chamber’s Workforce Innovation Center – one of seven Regional Job Hubs across the state leading the WorkOhio effort.
“We’re proud that the Workforce Innovation Center was selected as the WorkOhio Job Hub for Southwest Ohio,” said Brendon Cull, President & CEO of the Cincinnati Regional Chamber. “We applaud Lt. Governor Jim Tressel for launching this innovative program to enhance the existing collaborative work taking place in our regions.”
WorkOhio’s Job Hubs will partner with a network of “Community Connectors” – trusted local organizations that are already working in Ohio’s workforce ecosystem and know the area’s top industries, employers, and workforce needs. Through WorkOhio, these organizations will work as a team to help Ohioans find job opportunities, training, and support services that match their personal goals.
The initial list of Community Connectors in the Southwest Ohio region [ [link removed] ] includes:

* Easterseals Redwood
* OhioMeansJobs Butler County
* OhioMeansJobs Hamilton County
* OhioMeansJobs Warren County
* United Way of Greater Cincinnati
* Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio
Additional organizations in the region – including workforce organizations, educational institutions, community service providers, and more – are welcome to join the WorkOhio effort as Community Connectors. Many have already indicated their commitment to doing so.
The WorkOhio Kickoff Tour will continue with additional stops in each of the program’s regions in the coming weeks.
