Executive Branch Updates: Litigation Updates, Child Care Funding Freeze, SNAP, and Visa Freeze
The Administration's onslaught of attacks on immigrants, their families, and the communities where they live continue. There's been a number of litigation developments, as well as a new sweeping halt to immigration visas for residents of 75 countries. There's been a number of litigation developments, as well as a new sweeping halt to immigration visas for residents of 75 countries. * HHS [[link removed]] : The court imposed a temporary (14 day) halt on the Administration for Children and Families' efforts to illegally freeze $10 billion in child care, TANF and SSBG funding for five blue states, asserting allegations of fraud and access by ineligible immigrants.
* USDA [[link removed]] : Another court provided a temporary restraining order preventing USDA from cutting off SNAP funds to Minnesota for failure to meet their demand for immediate recertification of all SNAP cases in select counties. And the states that had previously received a preliminary injunction in the SNAP data sharing case asked the court to enforce it, as USDA renewed its demand for six years of recipient and applicant data.
* State Department ( Other [[link removed]] ): The State Department announced a stop to process of all immigrant visas for residents of 75 countries, claiming (with no evidence) that the residents of these countries are more likely to become public charges.

Fact Sheet: Attacks on Somali Communities and Fraud Claims
The Trump administration, with the help of conservative influencers, is attacking federal anti-poverty programs for children while using immigrant communities as scapegoats. A new fact sheet by the Center for Law and Social Policy [[link removed]] , the National Immigration Law Center [[link removed]] , and African Communities Together [[link removed]] provides suggested messaging and information putting the misleading statements from the Trump administration in context and points to the actual sources of fraud and misuse of taxpayer funds (the wealthy and giant government contractors), as well as the existing anti-fraud measures under law and practice.
