Jack, I recognize the irony of opening this email by saying political emails are the worst.
But really, they are. The fearmongering, the false urgency, the constant barrage of panicky requests for money. (Don’t get me started on the text messages.)
That said, I’m running for Congress and I’m working to build a campaign that truly talks to — and listens to! — the people of NY-12. And of course, I know I will be reaching out to this team more often as the election draws closer.
So I wanted to take a minute to tell you what you can expect from these emails:
I'm only going to email you when I have something real to say.
I'm only going to ask for your support when I need it.
I'm never going to try to scare you into donating, or send you those scammy petitions that are just a ploy to get your money. (“Add your name to save democracy” sounds too good to be true, because it is.)
I want these emails to actually add value to your inbox, and I'm hoping that this can be a collaboration — you and me, working together to get Congress back to a place where it's actually working for New Yorkers.
If you've got thoughts or advice as we look towards the next few months, I'd love to hear it. Reply here and share with my team. (And if you already know you *don’t* want to hear from me, you can unsubscribe here. I won’t take it personally.)
Finally, I truly appreciate you reading these. I know your time is valuable and there are a million things you could be paying attention to.
Thank you.
