Dear Friend,

It goes without saying that the annual March for Life in Washington DC is one of the most exciting and unifying events in the international movement in defense of human life. Yet, even though the Supreme Court overturned the infamous Roe v. Wade decision in June of 2022, the so-called “right” to take the life of a preborn child is still upheld by many US states.

New legal restrictions have protected unborn children in some states, but new permissive laws in other states have radicalized the abortion proponents. The merchants of death continually find new ways around laws, around state limitations, around moral barriers. Nowadays, for example, chemical abortions are increasing in a way that would make Dr. Mengele, a German Nazi officer often referred to as “the angel of death,” proud.

It's why we still march. Tens of thousands of people—mostly young—will show up in Washington DC this coming Friday to be witnesses to the sanctity of human life despite the cold. And we’re delighted that our Catholic Vice President, JD Vance, will be the keynote speaker at the event.

As Catholics who are identified by the word “Action”, we need to redouble our prayers and efforts for the cause of life. We encourage the faithful to take advantage of this once-a-year opportunity to stand up for the unborn in a public way, whether it be to participate in the national March for Life in Washington DC if you can, or in local efforts. And for those who are unable to participate actively, you can join in prayer to accompany those on the front line.

The United States Catholic Bishops have declared this Thursday, January 22 to be a Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children. Make it a point to attend Holy Mass, pray the Holy Rosary for the unborn, as well as for parents who have aborted their children. Offer a holy hour for all who are contemplating abortion, all who promote abortion, as well as all those who perform abortions or write prescriptions for the abortion pill.

If you live in the San Diego area, I’d like to invite you to the 14th annual Walk for Life which will take place this coming Saturday, January 24. Click this link for more details:

Members and directors of Catholic Action for Faith and Family will be processing with the Fatima Statue and praying the Rosary accompanied by local chapters of the Knights of Columbus, who will be carrying the Blessed Mother on the carrier.

It’s our way of encouraging our members and all faithful men, women, and children to stand up for the rights of the unborn. If you can attend the San Diego event, please join us at the Knights of Columbus booth, where we will begin our procession.

St. Paul reminds us in Ephesians 6 that our battle is not against flesh and blood. It is against the principalities and powers of this world of darkness. The darkness is spreading, but the Light of Christ shines forth in all the wonderful witness to life who show the world that life wins in the end.

“The light shines on in darkness, a darkness that did not overcome it.” (Jn 1:5)

Yours in the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
