We’ve learned a lot in the past 365 days since Donald Trump re-assumed power.
We’ve seen how far he’s willing to go to shred the Constitution and rip away our freedoms. We’ve seen how eager his fellow Republicans are to do his bidding. And we’ve seen how even if he doesn’t get his way in Washington — at least not right away — his rhetoric can still reverberate around the country.
Just look at the voting rights landscape.
At the national level, Trump has been trying to aggressively restrict voter registration through a modern-day poll tax known as the “SAVE” Act.
It passed the House, it’s still pending in the Senate, but Trump hasn’t just had his eyes on Congress. He’s also called on states to pass their own copycat measures.
And they’re listening: a report from the Voting Rights Lab found that in 2025, largely influenced by Trump’s demands, voter registration policy became the top area of election-related state legislative activity for the first time since they started tracking that metric in 2021.
State legislators also took up the mantle on another one of Trump’s fixations: attacking voting by mail.
He’s continued spewing misinformation about this secure and vital voting method, and pledged to lead Republicans in banning it. So this comes as no surprise: the Voting Rights Lab report found that at the state level, 2025 featured the most significant rollback of voting by mail since 2021.
We have to take Trump’s anti-voter rhetoric seriously — and at Fair Fight, we will continue pushing back against his efforts to silence voters and overthrow our democracy. We will be as resolute in our work as he is relentless in his attacks.
To help thwart voter suppression attempts, elect Democracy Champions who will stand up to MAGA’s anti-voter agenda, and protect free and fair elections, please chip in any amount today. Together, we will continue to build pro-voter political power.
In solidarity,
The Fair Fight Team
