Dear reader,

Journalism requires patience, persistence, and discipline.

All three were at play when Jeff Ernst and David Adams embarked on a journey to track down the videos related to a series of explosive drug trafficking trials in the United States. The accused were some of the most powerful politicians and drug traffickers from Honduras. And the videos, which were filmed surreptitiously by the country's most powerful traffickers, showed them making political, business, and personal deals with powerful politicians.

But how do you get hold of evidence that’s under seal, and the leaking of which could mean criminal prosecution for the leaker? Jeff and David started to write letters. Hundreds of them. To any Honduran drug trafficker and their lawyer who they believed were incarcerated in the United States at that time. And then they waited. For four years!

Until one of them — you only need one — answered. Bingo!

This is the story of how these intrepid journalists got one of the most damning pieces of narco-political evidence we have ever seen. It is a journalism story. It is a political story. It is a story about how our world works.
