Statement from CTGOP on Walk-Out-of-Work Protest
Middletown, CT — Today’s walk-out-of-work protest is the predictable result of years of failed leadership by Governor Ned Lamont and Connecticut Democrats, policies that have made our state more expensive, less competitive, and harder for working families to afford.
Connecticut Republicans support the right to peaceful protest. But walking off the job in the middle of the workday doesn’t lower grocery bills, reduce energy costs, or help a young family afford a home. It disrupts businesses, burdens taxpayers, and highlights just how detached Connecticut Democrats and the far left TDS afflicted individuals are from the real pressures facing working people.
Under Governor Lamont and one-party Democratic control, Connecticut has seen higher taxes, higher utility bills, higher housing costs, and a growing unaffordability crisis that is driving residents and jobs out of our state. Is it any wonder why we had more people leave CT in 2025 than moved here!
Instead of fixing the damage they caused, Democrats now cheer on political stunts and protests to distract from their own record of failure.
If Democrats were serious about helping workers, they would repeal the taxes and mandates that make everything cost more, from energy bills to housing costs to higher and higher property taxes, to everyday necessities. Instead they encourage walkouts that hurt productivity and economic growth.
Republicans believe in hard work, accountability, and policies that reward work not punish it.
We will continue to fight for a Connecticut where Governor Lamont and Connecticut Democrats understand that theatrics belong on the Bushnell stage across from the Capitol, and leadership to correct a dying Connecticut needs to be found in the Capitol.
